Oh Snap!

$50.00 for a single question….are you kidding me?

PROFESSIONALINTERIORDESIGNER certainly does not begrudge anybody that uses their entrepreneurial spirit to create a money making venture…more power to them! That is what makes this country great. And they are also free to call themselves whatever they want. Which flies in the face of those who believe that only those who pass the NCIDQ are qualified to call themselves “Interior Designer”

However, when their concept denigrates an entire profession the entire profession should be offended. Unfortunately there (currently) is not a damn thing we can do about it.

Just another nail in the coffin of the term “Interior Design”

  1. Well, I have to admit, it does bring design to public in a way that most people can relate to nowadays. And why not? What a great idea, wish I had thought of it. BUT, just another reason to recognize residential design is not the same as commercial, even though they share basic principles. They do not express on the site their credentials, nor does the public really care/need to know; as they are just decorating peoples homes, not designing office buildings or hospitals.
I don’t think it is another nail- it is just another building block to recognize that there are many parts to the profession and perhaps there needs to be some new words to describe what a commercial designers does for the public versus what a residential interior designer does for a private client.
