Venus Williams is also an entrepreneur, holding a degree in fashion design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. She launched her clothing line, EleVen, in 2007, and said she also has interest in commercial interior design. They’re not her main priority yet, though.
Dear Venus,
I am sure you are one of my 25+/- regular readers so I know we can talk. I respect you. You are an incredibly talented and motivated person. PROFESSIONALINTERIORDESIGNER could not win a match of tennis against your left leg. It alone would crush me. Not only are you a world-class athlete you are intelligent and you have the personal style and self promotion skills to do what ever it is you decide you want to do. So if “commercial” interior design really is your passion and upon your retirement from the circuit you intend to become a commercial interior designer I would hope that you would do the right thing and qualify yourself to truly practice at the commercial level. And no an associate degree in Fashion Design does not qualify you. Please do not just one day wake up and proclaim yourself a commercial interior designer. It is one thing to wake up and claim yourself an interior decorator but take my word- “commercial” interior design ain’t interior decorating. So if you really want to do this the right way PROFESSIONALINTERIORDESIGNER would be glad to point you in the right direction. I would be honored to have you earn your status as a qualified commercial interior designer. We can use all the help we can get.
