OOPS- Major Food Chain Spanked by Interior Design Oversight
We do not know if it was an interior designer or an architect that made the fateful decision to design a serving counter at 47″ A.F.F. (that’s above finished floor for all of you clueless angry decorators) but this is a prime example of the importance of knowing codes and regulations as they apply to even the most mundane interior element. Chipotle hires only the best. The architecture and interiors of their stores is legendary. Even the best mess up. So to claim that an accredited education does not have to be an integral component of a professional interior designer’s career path is just ludicrous at best.

IF YOU CAN’T JOIN ‘EM-BEAT ‘EM or BE LIKE ‘EM….maybe?
PROFESSIONALINTERIORDESIGNER does not hide his disdain for interior decorators that claim professional status as interior designers. These decorators apparently have a birthright to the profession and are really un-happy that some interior designers wish to raise the standards by which we define professional status. Here We Go Again
Just imagine how much effort is being expended on both sides of the issue to fight for an occupational identity that most of society does not understand, if they even care. Is this really Uncle Sam’s responsibility to sort out?

Is it Interior Architecture or is it Memorex?
Finally let’s give props to a firm that avoids the three partner last name moniker……20 Below Studios….in Minneapolis….PROFESSIONALINTERIORDESIGNER gives this firm 2 thumbs way up!

Wow! Score One for the Pro-Legislation Side
Is this simply a matter of the GAIDP having the upper hand (read stronger legislative advocates) over the AIA or was there some back room agreements with the GA AIA to stand down on their opposition?

Interesting Discussion Here
Every now and then I see a discussion pop up regarding the status and perception of the profession- here is one. I apologize for hogging the discussion but until somebody tells me I am wrong and can back it up I will continue to voice my opinion.
